In the early 2000s, a transformative project reshaped the landscape of retail and parking at Fashion Mall North & South. With the completion of the South Garage in 2001 and the North Garage in 2003, these precast structures set a new standard for functionality, accessibility, and architectural excellence.
Spanning an impressive 442,843 square feet for the South Garage and 253,257 square feet for the North Garage, these structures were more than just parking facilities—they were integral components of the mall experience. Designed with a focus on structural integrity and longevity, both garages featured cast-in-place shear walls, ensuring durability and safety for years to come.
One of the key features of these garages was their three-bay layout, which incorporated control parking ramps to optimize traffic flow and enhance user experience. Open staircases provided easy access and navigation, while high first bays offered unobstructed sightlines to retail entrances, welcoming visitors with a clear and inviting path.
Special valet parking zones catered to patrons requiring additional assistance or convenience, further enhancing the overall accessibility of the mall. Dedicated large-scale signage areas on all elevations facilitated easy wayfinding and branding, ensuring a seamless and memorable shopping experience for visitors.
Despite their functional purpose, these garages were not devoid of aesthetic appeal. Cost-effective architectural spandrel treatments adorned the exteriors, striking a perfect balance between form and function. These thoughtful design elements added to the visual appeal of the structures while maintaining practicality and efficiency.
