Amgen Parking Structure #8 is a six-and-a-half level parking facility containing approximately 1,657 parking spaces, situated within the campus-like setting of Amgen Pharmaceutical Company's headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.
Designed exclusively for employee parking, this Type I, fully sprinkled, post-tensioned concrete structure includes a 7,000-square-foot IFS area for medical waste storage. The project was delivered via the design-build method, ensuring it was completed on time and within budget, with no dead-end conditions and a consistent 8'-3" clearance height throughout.
The structure is equipped with an extensive security system and was meticulously designed to integrate with its steep hillside location, with the lowest two levels cut into the embankment and the east end daylighting at the sloping grade.
Attention to detail was paramount, maintaining the openness of the structure by beaming and terracing the landscape at the north and south facades, thereby eliminating the need for mechanical ventilation. This thoughtful design approach not only enhances functionality but also harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
