The Landport Parking Structure
The Landport project features a four-level parking structure situated between an existing railway to the west and a 110-year-old historic converted warehouse building to the east. This structure will provide replacement parking for the office building and accommodate two 30-story hotel towers above it.
The primary vehicular access will be from an existing street bridge on the north side onto the top level, with secondary access from the south end on the lower level. To accommodate heavy loading and fire truck access, the top level is designed with additional structural support.
The site area is long and narrow with a curved edge on the west side, but the design maximizes efficiency with an access ramp system that enhances visual access and minimizes pedestrian travel distances.
TRC Parkitects collaborated closely with the hotel design team to minimize the impact of the structural grids for the towers and streamline circulation. The project includes parking architectural design, as well as structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering for the parking structure and hotels. Currently, in the design phase, construction is scheduled to begin in June 2019.
