USC Parking Structures 1 & 2
The University of Southern California has introduced two new parking structures, designed as bookends to create a distinctive gateway to the campus from Exposition Boulevard.
Parking Structure 1, a seven-level, three-bay structure, offers approximately 1,153 parking stalls, while Parking Structure 2 is an eight-level, two-bay post-tensioned concrete structure with 1,193 stalls. Both structures are entirely above grade, featuring major entrances off 37th Place and Flower Street for Parking Structure 1, and Exposition Boulevard and Flower Street for Parking Structure 2.
The designs draw from the campus's existing architectural styles, incorporating precast concrete, brick, and stone to establish a strong sense of arrival and continuity with the university's aesthetic.
Emphasizing both functionality and aesthetics, the structures are open to allow natural light and ventilation, enhancing the user experience and safety. The exterior design adheres to an "Ivy League" architectural vocabulary with sophisticated yet clean and simple detailing.
Vertical circulation elements like stairs and elevators receive architectural emphasis to ensure ease of use and visual appeal. Security is a top priority, with both structures featuring full painting and advanced security systems, complemented by extensive landscaping to integrate them seamlessly into the campus’s contemporary theme.
